Choosing a Network Marketing Company
Thursday, October 2, 2008 at 04:23PM Today's economy has sent many working class people into an absolute panic. With the U.S. bogged down in an economic downturn, many people are trying everything possible to hold on to as much of their hard-earned money as they can.
But, do not be too dismayed...
If you ended up here on my site because of an interest in starting a network marketing business, I have some good news.
The truth is that while many corporations are struggling to stay financially solvent, many companies who operate as direct selling or network marketing are doing extremely well!
How can that be? Well, the people in direct sales or network marketing actually have a certain amount of control, which directly controls their income.
So as far as today's economy, it is the perfect time for not only getting involved in this industry, but also for recruiting, because everyone is looking for a way to make more money.
The direct sales and network marketing industry can not only supplement your current income, it can potentially provide you with a full-time income, eliminating the stress of the financial insecurity facing us today.
That is - if you have a burning desire and you're willing to work hard...
Deciding which network marketing company to join is an extremely important decision to make. After all, the reason most of us even decide to get involved in multilevel marketing is to make money, for any number of reasons. My reason - so that I won't have to work until I die... So, it's critical to do your research.
If you have been approached by a relative, a neighbor, or someone at your church to join a fantastic opportunity that will, after all, make you rich - quick, healthy enough to live til you're 90, save you thousands of dollars for whatever, and a myriad of other tremendous advantages -- DON'T! At least, not until after you have done your homework.
If you're serious about building a successful network marketing business, you must treat it like a business. If you were considering buying a franchise with McDonalds, just think about the research you would do before laying out many thousands of dollars!
Granted, it doesn't typically cost thousands of dollars to get into a network marketing business. But, I have talked to many people who have spent thousands of dollars not only to get started, but to maintain their autoship - with nothing in return - some, thousands of dollars in debt. It doesn't have to be that way!
My recommendations when choosing a network marketing business...
- Watch out for scams!! Click here for an excellent explanation of a MLM scam.
- Does the company have credibility and integrity; what are the terms, conditions and policies
- Consider the supply and demand
- Reasonable start-up cost
- Minimal product inventory or product purchase required to make quota
- No hotel or mandatory meetings
- Choose products and resources that compliment each other to implement multiple streams of income
- Must be a perfect fit for you
You might be thinking...
What is the difference between direct sales,
multi-level marketing (MLM),
network marketing, an opportunity?
I use these terms interchangeably, because they are all related.
Direct sales: These companies are known as seller-based; they market higher priced, usually one time sales items. The benefits of these programs are you make higher commissions, but they have very little if any residual income. Basically, if you stop working, so does your income.
Network Marketing/Multi-level Marketing: They are essentially the same. They are relationship building businesses; it is about helping people build a business or focusing on your customers for your products and services. And, contrary to what you might have heard - it is all about sales.
An opportunity: It is what you are currently promoting or interested in promoting.

If you’re serious about getting started with a company, be patient in deciding which one. This is going to be your home based business and your future. Given the economic crisis we are currently in, take the necessary precautions to ensure you make the best choice.
I really like the following story I got from "Walk the Talk," which offers hope for the future and a big dose of optimism regarding your network marketing dream.
"We can learn from our leaders of the past. Thomas Edison’s great optimism gives us a quintessential example of welcoming disaster. On a December night in 1914, fire broke out in the film room of Thomas Edison’s laboratory. As his assets were going up in smoke, it would seem that this sixty-seven-year-old man’s spirit would certainly be crushed.
Instead he saw the fire and shouted to his son, “Where’s Mom? Go get her! Tell her to get her friends! They’ll never see a fire like this again!” Later, he said,
We’ve just cleared out a bunch of old rubbish.
We’ll build bigger and better on the ruins.”
Thomas Edison could not control the circumstances. Rather than being heartbroken to see his life’s work go up in flames, he chose to welcome the opportunity to start over. Edison, known for his overwhelming optimism, is an inspiration for us today. "
